Living History, Oregon Trail and California Trail Wagon Trains and Horse Back Treks
Available May - October

Three and Five Day Wagon Train Trek and/or Horse Ride
The Old Oregon Trail is an incredible journey ... The covered wagon is a symbol of the western expansion of the United States. In 1843, the first large migration left Missouri in May. They traveled across unassigned Indian territory in what is now Wyoming, over South Pass to Oregon Country. 400,000 pioneers loaded up the wagons with all they could carry and headed west in the 1800s. These pioneers came from all over the world to settle in a new land, later to become these United States.

There was excitement and adventure in traveling the trails to the Oregon and California Territories. The famous Pony Express rider, Buffalo Bill Cody, carried the mail across South Pass. Land and gold was the cry as men and women headed west.

Ride our large, comfortable Conestoga Wagons. With the sides rolled up you can photograph the scenery and wildlife as you roll along. You can ride horses as Pony Express riders or you can walk in the footsteps of the pioneers.

Tours begin at Casper, Wyoming. The Historic Wagon Train begins on the Sweetwater River, ending with a tour of South Pass City, crossing the Continental Divide into what used to be Oregon country.

We travel west from Casper, Wyoming, stopping at the historic sites of Independence Rock, Devil's Gate, and begin our wagon journey west of Split Rock.

After breakfast each day, we break and load camp, hitch the team, saddle the horses and travel west on the famous trails. We visit historic landmarks and trail markers, travel in the footsteps of famous mountain men like Jim Bridger and Bill Sublette, walk in the footprints of the pioneers who settled the west, as the majestic Wind River Mountains to the north watch over us. Arriving in camp, we set up teepees, prepare dinner and review our days travels.

Pricing includes individual meals. The Wagon Train is trailed by a support vehicle providing portable restrooms for guests during the journey.
